Let's ban single-use plastic bags from White Rock
White Rock calls itself the City by the Sea. Apart, perhaps, from the eponymous, white rock nothing else is as associated with our city as the Pacific Ocean and our lovely beaches. They draw tourists from around the region and the world each summer and give us residents an incredible view all through the year.
However, plastics which never break down, and other garbage, is increasingly polluting our ocean. the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is now three times the size of France and growing.
If elected to White Rock’s City Council, I will put forward a motion to ban single-use plastic bags from the city. Following the example of Victoria, which has already moved forward on this important environmental issue, White Rock can help take the lead in protecting our environment and keeping our sea clean.
This is just one of my policies and goals that I hope to work towards to improve life for the residents of White Rock.
On October 20th, I hope you vote for me (Jeffery Simpson) and a council that wants to keep White Rock beautiful and healthy.
