Jeffery Simpson Announces Election Bid for White Rock City Council

VETERAN GAME DEVELOPER WANTS TO BRING A POSITIVE PROGRESSIVE VOICE TO COUNCIL AND PUSH FOR A MORE OPEN GOVERNMENT

White Rock, BC - Jeffery Simpson has announced that he is running for White Rock City Council. Simpson has been working in Community Management in the video game industry for the past eight years and hopes to bring a new open, positive and collaborative approach to City Hall. As an independent candidate, he is interested in working with others, regardless of their party affiliation, for the good of the city.

“Globally we’ve seen recent elections where toxic campaigns get in the way of governing,” Simpson said, “I’ve made a career of working with other passionate people to create great things, and I hope to be able to work with my fellow councillors, the new mayor and the citizens of White Rock to help guide the city through a vital period in its history.”

Taking an environmental stance, Simpson has pledged to run a “Zero Waste” campaign and promises not to utilize the standard political tools of lawn signs, handouts, posters or door hangers.

“Nobody wants to have a picture of my face hanging from their door,” the candidate said, “and I don’t want to create a bunch of trash that’s just going to end up cluttering a landfill the day after the election.”

This environmental approach extends beyond the campaign, as one of his signature proposals is a ban on single-use plastic bags for stores in White Rock.

“White Rock calls itself the City by the Sea and benefits from a beautiful and clean ocean. As citizens we should be doing what we can to reduce our use of plastic, as so much of it ends up polluting the sea that we all love,” Simpson explained.

With eight years in community management working for some of the largest video game companies in the world, Simpson is excited to collaborate in building a new future for the city that he and his family call home.

“I love White Rock, I am so privileged to be able to raise my son and daughter here, and I’m excited for this opportunity to give back to the city,” he said, adding, “Over the course of my career I’ve taken feedback about video games with millions of fans around the world and have used that feedback to make great games even better. I can’t wait to take all the passionate feedback that the citizens of White Rock have to give, and work with a new council to make this city even better than it already is.”

Jeffery Simpson has launched a campaign website (jefferysimpson.com) and a campaign Facebook page.
