Gunners go clear

Despite a few less than convincing performances in Europe, a fight on the team bus and a draw with Bolton, Arsenal are still looking like favorites to win the Premiership this year. They won handily (4-0) against Charlton today, and are five points clear of second place Chelsea (though Chelsea do have a game in hand at could close that to a two point lead).

ArsenalcelebrainNow of course with Wayne Rooney turning into the football equivalent of Jesus and walking on water since coming to Manchester United, the Red Devils are still in the hunt and Chelsea have way too much money to count out. However if Arsenal can keep winning against the weaker teams, and Man U. and Chelsea both continue to drop points, we're in a good position. Of course Man U. will be really hoping to end Arsenal's unbeaten run when the Gunners go to Old Trafford, and though one game isn't going to decide who wins the league an Arsenal win would almost surely ensure that Manchester is out of the running while a United win could dereail Arsenal.

Arsenal have one game left before they head north to Old Trafford. If they can win that then they're going into Manchester having won or drawn 49 games in a row. If they can win or draw at Old Trafford then they hit 50, and the half century mark would surely be an accomplishment.
